At this interactive event, the place where you sit, and the meal that you eat, are determined by the luck of the draw — just as in real life some of us are born into relative prosperity and others into poverty. The Hunger Banquet simulates hunger in the State of Alabama. Alabama ranks 48 in food security. The meals are reflective to the experience of everyday people in Alabama. This allows many to gain a new perspective on the root causes of hunger and poverty and creates motivation to do something to help. Speakers from Alabama Possible, Secret Meals, and the Alabama Food Bank will be there to talk about how you can make a difference in the lives of Alabamians. This Thanksgiving season, come change the way you think about hunger and share your experience with others.
